Specialising in Cataract Surgery & Medical Retina
Dr Thomas Gin is an ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon and fellowship-trained medical retina specialist. His expertise is in cataract surgery and the management of retinal diseases including diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular disorders.
Thomas graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of Melbourne and ranked first in his clinical school final-year examinations. Following his residency, he undertook ophthalmology surgical training in Melbourne at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital. During this time, he was awarded the Filipic-Greer medal for excellence in ophthalmic pathology. He subsequently undertook further fellowship training in the subspecialty field of retina.
Thomas practices in both the private and public sectors and has published several research articles on age-related macular degeneration in international peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. He is actively involved in teaching trainee ophthalmologists as a consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear and Austin Hospitals.
